I Feel Something

by Black Hay

/

about

"I Feel Something by Black Hay has made the grade, cut the mustard and has helped us end this working week on good note. A true throw back to the likes of Tom Waits, Bob Dylan and the god father of them all, Johnny Cash. With songwriting akin to Cash’s Personal Jesus and the same dark and melancholic drive of Josh Homme, Black Hay delivers an authentic homage to classic rock and blues. Everything about this track feels right. From the raw production of the guitar and drums to vocal tone and the gritty lyrics, “Make me earn my grin, I wanna run my wicked tongue along every inch of your petal skin”. Americana is something we’ve always embraced her in the UK. We can see this by the endless amounts of State Side inspired folk around at the moment, but perhaps its time to stop being so soft with it all. Peel back the banjos and fiddles and take a listen to London’s very own Black Hay. A heavily inspired yet authentic track that makes me want to pour a whiskey and smoke a Marlboro red." - Killing Moon Limited

"The muck and lust of ‘I Feel Something’ - have a listen, it’ll make you blush." - Neil Mason, mynewfavouriteband

“Very few genres manage to last long enough to see the rise and demise of all others but rock n roll has outlived them all. The latest band to further evolve this genre is the dark, melodic and heavy Black Hay from the very depths of London. If Queens of the Stone Age collided with Tom Waits and Nick Cave then slipped over the splattered musical liquid, the amalgamated remains would be this pleasurable band. They have everything from driving tunes to jazzy rock classics.” – noisemakesenemies

"The dark-hearted gothic-country of Black Hay makes a welcome return with the release of forthcoming single, I Feel Something.
It is the first single from forthcoming debut album Romantic Music For Perverts and delivers a pleasingly ominous countrified twang amidst appropriately lusty lyrics." - madmackerel

"I’m loving the deep-throated, twisted rock ‘n’ roll vibes of this track from London-based duo Black Hay, which oozes with raw magnetism, manifested in captivating claps and infectious riffs. While they’ve been compared to the likes of Nick Cave and Mark Lanegan, I’m hearing hints of The Kills in here, along with Edwyn Collins’ “A Girl Like You”, which I love. Check out the accompanying video." - Marietta, Cracked Wax

“Ha! Its the perfect anti-valentines track!” - Tom, LondonGigGuide

lyrics

The way you look with your eyes half open
peeking out to the side
All the things we’ve left unspoken
About to materialise
It doesn’t matter how you got dressed in all those pretty clothes you wore
They all look best scattered in little piles across the floor

One kiss and my neck hairs stand up and I

I feel something
I feel something
I feel fingers running through my hair
I feel something
I feel something
I feel something going on down there

It was over from the moment your boots came off
Your face said it all
Your body is going to have a lot to answer for
Pressed up to the wall

Your bones were made for jumping and I

I feel something
I feel something
I feel blood rushing from my head
I feel something
I feel something
I feel something in between my legs

I feel something

I’m going to do things to you, you haven’t got names for
You can make me earn my grin
I want to run my wicked tongue along every inch of your petal skin

Right now you couldn’t scrape the filth from my mind

I feel something
I feel something
I feel something when you say my name
I feel something
I feel something
I feel something Take my breath again
I feel something
I feel something
I feel blood rushing from my head
I feel something
I feel something
I feel something in between your legs

about

Black Hay London, UK

Black Hay is the project of London-born Gideon K and a motley crew of collaborators.

Previously described as "Worse than Leonard Cohen", Black Hay's music has gone from noirish garage rock, to grungey alt-country low-rock, via DIY house-bound balladry, to a current incarnation of cold-hearted post-punk indie synth-tronica.

The new single 'Always Be Mine' is out now.
